In 2015, I set up a recurring deposit for $25 a month to KIVA, and used the money to make a micro loan each month!
I stopped adding money after 14 months, but I've re-loaned my $350 over and over as it's paid back, making SEVENTY TWO $25 loans in 60 countries, for a total of $1850 in loans over the past 5 years! I choose loans to women looking to start or improve their businesses (including one woman here in San Jose!), and in 5 years I've only lost $22 to defaults or currency exchange loss.
I love seeing how an amount that is mostly insignificant to me can make a huge difference to a woman who has trouble accessing traditional loans, giving her independence and a way to support herself and her family.

Recently re-discovered this album (Sam Prekop), which was a favorite back in the early 2000's. I've been listening to it at work but it's great for any time you want some mellow music that's not sleep-inducing!
