That's me. I've been taking photos since i was a little tiny thing with my super OLD SCHOOL 110 camera, starting with common subjects like stuffed animals, my cat, and my sister. i was pretty good for a 5 year old, sometimes i actually got people's heads in the photo.

i took a LOT of film in high school and college, but i didn't tend to take experimental or landscape shots becasue the results were usually sucky, and developing is expensive! but now that i've got a digital camera, i've got the freedom to try whatever i want. i love experimenting with composition, and i'm trying to get a handle on what actually makes a photo interesting.

i'm totally 'untrained' in photography, but i'm looking forward to taking some classes at the local CC next fall. i can't wait to finally learn how to use the manual film camera that's been sitting in my house for years!

I started this photoblog back in november of 03. i decided to wipe it and start over because i wanted to go to the one-a-day format, and i also decided to format it less like a photo album... i seem to find the photoblogs where the shots are displayed in random order are more interesting. i will probably re-post a lot of my old stuff eventually, since i think a bunch of it was pretty good.

Photos on this site were taken with a Sony Cybershot DSC-P71 or a Casio Exilim Z-55. It's entirely possible that i'll also post old, old shots that i took on film. if i do, they'll be clearly marked.

This site runs with MT, and uses CSS. maybe someday i will check to see if it's standards compliant, but this design was a BITCH to do and i just can't bring myself to fix the inevitable mistakes just yet. if you find something broken, tell me, and i'll try to fix it. or offer to fix it yourself, it will probably get done faster!!

i named this site after john mayer's song 3x5 (lyrics), which is ironically about someone who is learning to see life without looking through the lens of a camera. also funny - i never print my photos samller than 4x6. but the title sure looks nice, right? ;-)
